Storing unstructured data (word documents, PDFs, scanned images and so on) in a Database is made possible through MS SQL FILESTREAM. The FILESTREAM feature enables SQL Server-based applications to store unstructured data, such as documents and images, on the file system . In ITAS terms this allows the documents to be generated through standard DocGen processes and automatically stored in the designated Database, and at the same time, provide standard Windows File Explorer access to those that require it. Being 'contained' within a Database has many advantages.
